Wearing Surfaces:

Fiberglass composite can use a variety of different surfacing whether low volume, high volume.

 

Wearing Surfaces Site Applied

  • Asphalt 
  • Micro Slurry systems
  • Concrete
  • Granular A & B cover
  • Epoxy Aggregate
  • Modified Methylacrylate applied up to -30 deg C at approx. 12mm thick with aggregate
  • Modified Urea, three part, applied up to -30 deg C at approx. 12mm thick with aggregate
  • Site applied preparation and installation is the sole liability and responsibility of the Engineer of Record
  • When using lightweight wearing surfaces, Site applied preparation by others must be coordinated with Guardian as Guardian work orders in writing and mutually signed off based on mock up panels specific to the site to establish the GC means and methods. Discussion by email or phone, verbal or otherwise is not accepted. In all cases the Guardian work order specific to the mockup panels and sign off governs.
  • Guardian role is limited to advisor as design assist

 

Wearing Surfaces plant applied

  • epoxy aggregate
  • modified methylacrylate
  • modified urea
  • the panel to panel  joints are completed on site
  • Plant applied wearing surfaces are chosen by the Engineer of Record and,
  • the material warranty is supplied directly to the Engineer of Record and his client and,
  • Guardian provides an warranty on the workmanship or labor portion only
  • The other option is to have the material supplier install their product in Guardians shop

Most bridges are done with HL4 50mm for structures <400 AADT
